Cap and Trade

So I went to the gas station to fuel up and I notice all of these posters on the pumps about Cap and Trade. They say if Cap and Trade passes, the price of gas will go up 77 cents a gallon. That's around $12 more each fill-up for me. Naturally, I'm pissed. I've heard the rhetoric from Obama that Cap and Trade will cost no more than a postage stamp for American families each year. The Heritage Foundation has calculated the actual cost at about $1,870 per family of four. (That's all energy costs - not just gas costs.)

Then I go home and get the mail and find a flyer from my Rep. Ralph Hall. In it, he discusses why he voted against Cap and Trade:

"The Waxman-Markey bill (Cap and Trade) mandates that by 2050 Carbon Dioxide levels in the US by reduced by 83% below 2005 levels. These emissions levels are comparable to those of 1907 when the primary mode of transportation was horse-back.

According to Chip Knappenberger of the World Climate Report, this cap on carbon emissions would do little for the environment. Knappenberger reported that the temperature increases would be lowered merely hundredths of a single degree Fahrenheit over the next 40 years."

Thanks Congress. When people are losing their jobs en masse, businesses are tanking, families are struggling, you jokers want to increase our energy costs??!?! I think the question here is are you working for us or against us???

Socialized Medicine Makes Me Sick

I'm psyched that more and more people are coming around and realizing that the Dems Universal Healthcare Plan is simply BAD NEWS. Even more encouraging stats came out today.

I got a raging sinus infection this week. I'm no wuss but I thought I would have to call Sigourney Weaver to kill the alien that was about to burst from my forehead. I got a doctors appointment (I LOVE my doctor.) and went and sat in the waiting room for about 30 minutes to see her. As I suffered through each minute, I thought, my God, what will this be like when we're all on this mandatory public health plan. Sitting in a waiting room for hours and hours like they do in Canada and Great Britain.

I got called in to see my fantastic doctor. She spent as much time as I needed talking to me, examining me, counseling me on the medication she was prescribing me. With the public health plan, this poor woman wouldnt have this kind of time. She'd be churning out people like an assembly line, throwing government approved medicines at us. Knowing my doctor, she'd refuse to provide that type of care and she'd have to apply her talents some other field of business.

Next I went to the pharmacy. It was packed. I waited with about 10 other people for 25 minutes to get my prescription. I knew it would be 10 times worse with the public health plan.

I thought to myself, what if it wasn't just me, standing here in misery, wanting so badly to get my medicine, go home, go to bed and get better. What if I was here with a sick baby who was suffering and crying and begging to feel better as we sat in the waiting room for 6 hours waiting for treatment.

Furious, I called Harry Reid, one of the idiot Democrats who is still trying like hell to push this public plan through (despite the will of his constituents) and I gave his voicemail a piece of my mind. This is America. What the hell are they doing trying to force us all into health plans that we dont want. Plans that will cause our quality of care to decline considerably (just ask Great Britain) and for what - so illegal immigrants get free healthcare, so that people who choose tricked out tires over health insurance will be covered, so people who sit on their butts all day while I go to work dont have to pay???

Ludicrous. Call your reps and give them a piece of your mind. Start with dimwit Harry Reid. Here's his #: 202-224-3542.

Banks are bad. Oil companies are bad. Insurance companies are bad. Drug companies are bad. That's the Democratic party line.

Since all these companies are bad, doing bad things, let's just have the government run them. You know, since the government never does anything bad. Hey, what a minute...

I am so sick and tired of hearing about how a company trying to make money is evil. When a company produces a product or service in America, every single American has a choice to purchase it. No one is forced to. Americans are free and they have the right to make a choice about whether a product or service is right for them.

Insurance companies for example - Insurance companies provide the service of insuring you or your property. They work with you to create the insurance package for you and you can say yes or no. You can choose to go with that company, another company OR to stay uninsured. Yes, there are people who choose to be uninsured. And they have the RIGHT to be.

In a recent town hall meeting in Montana, after being questioned about why he's vilifying insurance companies, Obama said that some insurance companies have said that they needed to take on more customers before they could make some of the drastic changes he is demanding of them. He made it sound like that was evil. Obama, this is a company, not a lollipop-gumdrop-kumbuya-not-for-profit-money-bin. These companies have to do what they can to stay in business, to keep their employees employed, to provide their customers with the services they were promised. Not only that, but they have a right to make a profit. Gasp! The Dems think a company making a profit is evil.

If an insurance company has bad practices and does evil things, they lose customers to another insurance company who is not doing those things. It's called capitalism. This goes with any business. If a person cant get a loan at one bank, they go to another bank. If the trainers at one gym are jerks, I go to another gym. It's competition in the FREE MARKET. And this free market allows Americans to have an abundance of choices - choices about healthcare, health insurance, checking accounts, motor oil, prescriptions, cereal, tampons, milk - EVERYTHING. That's what makes our quality of life so great.

And the Democrats want to kill that.

Argh! **Teeth Gnashing** Has everyone had a lobotomy? I'm screaming at FoxNews. Sarah Palin is dropping out because she can't take the heat? Please! This woman ran on the principles of being a true conservative and an efficient and effectual governor. As she stated in her speech today, since her VP campaign, the attention that she has garnered and the sheer volume of attacks that she has endured have eaten up time (not just for her but for her entire staff) and money (not just hers but $2 million of the Alaskan taxpayers money). By no fault of her own, she has been rendered a less effective and efficient governor than she was before she became the superstar that she is today. And true to her word, she is stepping down to allow the Lt. Governor to continue the incredible work that she began 3 years ago. The problem is that we are so used to politicians being these self-serving, incompetent, impotent, spendaholics that when someone like Sarah Palin makes a move that is in the best interest of her constituents, we call it "not being able to take the heat."

By this point, you'd think that there was nothing the media could do that would surprise us anymore. It's no secret that their collective brain views Obama as the second coming and that all the real estate between New York and L.A. is populated by banjo-picking hayseeds. They no longer hide their agendas like they once attempted to do in the interest of preserving some semblance of journalistic integrity. Their opinions and goals are now clearly spelled out. So then why was I so surprised at how the liberal media viewed the tea partiers? Why was I surprised when they called us "racists" and "hicks" and "puppets of FoxNews?" Why was I surprised when they started using teabagging jokes about us in their newscasts?

At first, I was pissed. I sat down, cracked my knuckles and got ready to type up some hatemail to all those so-called news networks. But then I realized something. When a person starts throwing out those kinds of labels, it's because they have nothing else intelligent to say. It's like a kid arguing with another kid on the playground and then calling him "Fat."

By calling all the tea partiers "racists" and "hillbillies", you don't have to do the work to investigate the true reason behind the protests. These journalists could have spent some time actually listening to people and comprehending this activism but that would take too much time and effort. It's easier just to slap some derogatory label on the whole thing and hop back on a plane to the Hamptons.

To Marcus and Dasy

Our hearts are broken for decorated Navy Seal, fellow Texan and American Hero Marcus Luttrell. On April 1st, some fiends went on a dog-killing spree and killed his beloved therapy dog Dasy with a 9 mm. Marcus had been given Dasy as a a gift to help him recover from his injuries as well as the traumatic experiences he endured during his mission in Afghanistan. (For details, read his book: Lone Survivor - linked at right). He even named Dasy after his three fallen comrades. Marcus expressed that his bond with the 4 year old yellow labrador was so strong that he felt she was his daughter. As someone who loves their dogs like children, I cannot begin to imagine how he feels. I encourage everyone to say a little prayer for Marcus and for Dasy. I will also say a prayer that those dog killers die in jail.

Biden the Blowhard

It's fairly easy to see why Obama's handlers never let Joe Biden talk during the campaign. If Barack has a tongue made of gold, then Joe's tongue is, well, horse manure. According to a recent news article, Biden stated that he chastised then President George W. Bush on more than one occasion.

"I remember President Bush saying to me one time in the Oval Office," Biden told CNN on Tuesday, "'Well, Joe,' he said, 'I'm a leader.' And I said: 'Mr. President, turn and around look behind you. No one is following.'"

In 2004, on HBO's Real Time with Bill Mahar, Biden said "When I speak to the president - and I have had plenty of opportunity to be with the president, at least prior to the last election, a lot of hours alone with him. I mean, meaning me and his staff," Biden said on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" in April 2006. "And the president will say things to me, and I'll literally turn to the president, say: 'Mr. President, how can you say that, knowing you don't know the facts?' And he'll look at me and he'll say - my word - he'll look at me and he'll say: 'My instincts.' He said: 'I have good instincts.' I said: 'Mr. President, your instincts aren't good enough.'"

Hmmm. Well, numerous Bush aides, former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer and Former Advisor Karl Rove have all disputed these assertions. Rove even commented "It didn't happen." Rove, a FOX News contributor, said in an interview with "On the Record, "I hate to say this, but he's a serial exaggerator. If I was being unkind, I would say liar, but it is a habit he ought to drop."

Candida P. Wolff, Bush's White House liaison to Capitol Hill, said the only meetings she remembered between Bush and Biden also included other lawmakers. She said such meetings were held in the Cabinet Room or the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, not the Oval Office, and certainly did not last for "hours."

This is not the first time the veracity of Biden's assertions has been challenged. In 1988, he dropped out of the presidential race after being accused of plagiarizing British Labor Party leader Neil Kinnock. The Washington Post also cited "the senator's boastful exaggerations of his academic record."

Last year, liberal Slate magazine recalled that "Biden's misdeeds encompassed numerous self-aggrandizing thefts, misstatements, and exaggerations that seemed to point to a serious character defect."

Also last year, Biden came under fire for telling a questionable story about being "shot at" in Iraq.

"Let's start telling the truth," Biden said during a presidential primary debate sponsored by YouTube in July. "Number one, you take all the troops out -- you better have helicopters ready to take those 3,000 civilians inside the Green Zone, where I have been seven times and shot at. You better make sure you have protection for them, or let them die."

But when questioned about the episode afterward by the Hill newspaper, Biden backpedaled from his claim of being "shot at" and instead allowed: "I was near where a shot landed."

Biden went on to say that some sort of projectile "landed" outside a building in the Green Zone where he and another senator had spent the night during a visit in December 2005. The lawmakers were shaving in the morning when they felt the building shake, Biden said.

Wow. How's that for transparency. You think this guy's gonna be honest with you when the going get's tough?

Or is it that Obama is just as full of crap, only he's much better at saying it?

It's no secret that Obama's got marketing saavy. His campaign was the most well marketed campaign in American history - when you bought into Obama, you bought into the Obama brand. It went beyond campaign slogans and bumper stickers, it was an Obama channel on Dish Network, it was an Obama MySpace page, it was an Obama commemorative plate. He wasn't campaigning for the presidency, he was campaigning to be elected Celebrity-in-Chief.

And there's my point:

When President Obama gives a speech, he's telling the public what they want to hear...and leaving out the whole truth. That's what you've gotta do to keep the opinion polls high. Like today for example, when he announced that by August 31st, 2010, all American troops will be pulled out of Iraq.

The truth is that 50,000 troops will be staying in Iraq 2010 and beyond and they will still be in harms way. Regardless of what he tells "his fans", Obama knows that removing all American troops from this fragile region will destabilize it and could throw the fledgling democracy into chaos. (Making all those American lives lost in vain.)

Another example is the recently passed omnibus stimulus bill. For some time, Obama has been outspoken about his alleged opposition to earmarks. Well, he must not be that opposed because this bill contains 8,571 earmarks (inserted by Democrats and Republicans) and he supports it.

Oh and what about Obama pledging to cut wasteful spending and focus on getting the economy back on track? What about the transparency of government that he promised? Hmmm, well the bill is about 70% social programs and only about 30% actual stimulus and job creation. He's allowing the Democrats to cloak their stale social agenda in the guise of economic stimulus, spending an unprecedented amount of precious taxpayer money in the midst of desperate economic times? How's that for transparency?

The lesson here is to know that the public is being told what they want to hear, rather than what they need to hear. In a time like this, do we want a celebrity or do we want a president?

Just read a great article from the Wall Street Journal. Here it is:

Reaganomics vs. Obamanomics
By Peter Ferrara, Director of Entitlement and Budget Policy for the Institute for Policy Innovation.

"In his inaugural address, President Barack Obama said, "The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works -- whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified." Or as administration spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said in January, the touchstone is, "What will have the biggest and most immediate impact on creating private sector jobs and strengthening the middle class? We're guided by what works, not by any ideology or special interests."

Unfortunately, this rhetoric is not true. Mr. Obama's economic policy is following not what has been proven to work but liberal ideology.

The best way to understand this is to compare what's being proposed now with what Ronald Reagan accomplished. In 1980, amid a seriously dysfunctional economy, Reagan campaigned for president on an economic recovery program with four specific components.

The first was across-the-board reductions in tax rates to provide incentives for saving, investment, entrepreneurship and work.

The second component was deregulation to remove unnecessary costs on the economy. In today's world, that would especially mean removing the onerous restrictions on energy production -- allowing drilling offshore and onshore for oil and natural gas, revival of the nuclear power industry, and construction of more electric power plants.

Third was the control of government spending. In 1981, Reagan forced through Congress not only his famed, historic tax cuts, but also a package of budget cuts close to 5% of the federal budget -- equivalent to roughly $150 billion today. In constant dollars, nondefense discretionary spending declined by 14.4% from 1981 to 1982, and by 16.8% from 1981 to 1983. Moreover, in constant dollars, this nondefense discretionary spending never returned to its 1981 level for the rest of Reagan's two terms. By 1988, this spending was still down 14.4% from its 1981 level in constant dollars.

Even with the Reagan defense buildup, which helped win the Cold War, total federal spending declined to 21.2% of GDP in 1989 from 23.5% of GDP in 1983. That's a real reduction of 10% in the size of government relative to the economy.

The fourth component of the Reagan recovery plan was tight, anti-inflation monetary policy, which was spectacularly successful. Inflation was cut in half to 6.2% in 1982 from 13.2% in 1980, and cut in half again to 3.2% in 1983.

We know such policies work because they turned around in just two years an economy far worse than today's. We were suffering from multiyear, double-digit inflation, double-digit unemployment, double-digit interest rates, declining incomes, and rising poverty. In fact, what we suffer with today is not the worst economy since the Great Depression, but the worst economy since Jimmy Carter -- the last time liberals were dominant politically and intellectually.
The Obama administration's economic policies do not include any of the four Reagan components. In fact, the stimulus plan is the greatest increase in government spending in the history of the planet. Meanwhile, the Fed is furiously reinflating, sowing more havoc down the line. Mr. Obama is still promising future increases in tax rates by letting the Bush tax cuts lapse, because for ideological reasons he thinks even current rates are too low. And instead of deregulating for more energy production, he is still promising massive increases in regulatory barriers -- through global warming cap-and-trade legislation -- to increased production from proven energy sources to serve an extreme environmentalist ideology.
This is why America seems so hopeless right now, and so depressed. We are stuck going in exactly the wrong direction on economic policy because of currently dominant ideological fashions.

A natural economic recovery will begin sometime this year, not because of the president's policies, but because soon this will be the longest recession since World War II. However, thanks to the administration's retrograde policies -- cut from the cloth of the 1970s and even the 1930s -- the recovery will not be what it should be. Rather, unemployment will remain too high, and inflation will resurge, recreating the disastrous economic results we suffered the last time Keynesian policies were dominant."

Geitner and Killifer and Daschle, Oh My!

With all this buzz about the tax woes of several of Obama's cabinet picks, I keep hearing from the media about "how questions have been raised about Obama's vetting process". The truth is that Obama learned of these candidates' tax issues during the vetting and still went on to select them. It was not until the American people learned of these closet-skeletons that the furor began and Killifer and Daschle stepped down. Geitner was actually confirmed and is our new Treasury Secretary, ironically overseeing the IRS.

In a recent interview with Chris Wallace, Obama said:

"I consider this a mistake on my part, one that I intend to fix and correct and make sure that we're not screwing up again," Obama said.

"We can't send a message to the American people that we've got two sets of rules -- one for prominent people and one for ordinary people," Obama said, defending his administration's standards.

"So this is a mistake -- probably not the first one I'm going to be making in this office, but what I'm absolutely committed to doing is fixing it," he said.

Great. He wants to fix it...so why isnt Geitner gone? Hmm? Oh, then listen to this:

Obama denied influencing Daschle's decision to withdraw, which caught a number of senators by surprise Tuesday. Though Daschle caught flak for revelations that he had failed to pay more than $130,000 in taxes, the former Senate majority leader has strong personal ties on Capitol Hill, and several Democrats said they thought he still could have won confirmation.

Obama said the decision was Daschle's.

This is just another great example of Obama's PR saavy. He says that he made a mistake and that he is going to do everything he can to fix it, that there shouldnt be two sets of rules, but then he does nothing. Killifer chose to withdraw, Daschle chose to withdraw. Geitner was confirmed and is not being removed from his position anytime soon.

Should we have HOPE that Obama will soon stop surrounding himself with unethical people?

SH*T, the SCHIP

(I dedicate this post to all those morons who argued with me before the election that Obama was going to lower taxes, you were proven wrong in the 1st 100 days. Hell, the first 30 days.)

AP Wire, February 4, 2009:

"President Obama has signed a bill extending health coverage to 4 million uninsured children. The bill calls for spending an additional $32.8 billion on the State Children's Health Insurance Program. Lawmakers generated that revenue by raising the federal tobacco tax. Obama said it is a key step toward his promise of universal health care coverage for all. [It] will mean an estimated 2.4 million children who otherwise would have access to private insurance will join the State Children's Health Insurance Program instead." (Source)

Read that again - they've added coverage for 2.4 million children who already have access to private insurance! This added coverage expands the possible coverage to 350% of the federal poverty line. This means that a family of four making up to $74,200 can receive free government healthcare! And here's the kicker, the bill grants states the ability to determine the limits of a particular family's income (ignoring capital gains, subtracting housing expenses, etc). So, in essence, a family making more than $74,200 could still be eligible if the state allowed it. (Source)

And now for the tax increase part. The money for this wonderful bit of socialism will come from jacking up the tobacco tax. The tobacco tax has now increased from 62 cents to $1.01.

I hate cigarettes as much as the next person but this is a HUGE tax increase and didn't Obama say something about lowering taxes? And, my friends, this is just the beginning.

It's no secret that personal responsibility and accountability in America have gone out the window. We live in a world where you can blame a tobacco company for giving you lung cancer after you've smoked all your life. Where you can sue McDonalds for making you fat. Where you can run up hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and just file for bankruptcy.

Why should we be surprised when companies like Wells Fargo and Citigroup who are accepting bailout money turn around and spend millions on things like private jets and lavish employee trips? It's just par for the course.

And why should these companies ever worry about being held accountable? The very people who should be going after this irresponsible behavior are busy engaging in crooked behavior of their own. Congress is rife with corruption on both sides of the aisle. 1) House Passes $819 Billion Stimulus (RAGE RAGE RAGE)
Not a single Republican voted for the it. (GO GO GOP!)

While I'd like to credit this common sense thinking to our GOP leaders getting back to their roots, I really think that this vote is just evidence of what a huge stinking pile of crap this stimulus is. Not a single Republican wants to hitch his dingy to this sinking ship. If the stimulus passes, it will only be a matter of time until it is revealed to be a spectacular failure doing nothing to stimulate the economy and the American people will see it for the tax-payer-oppressive piece of pork that it is. America will have only the Democrats to blame.

2) This one is my favorite: "GOP Congressman Intros 'Rangel Rule,' Eliminating IRS Late Fees"
It's getting to be pretty much a daily occurance for me to thank God that I live in Texas. While the rest of this country slowly slips into a cesspool of amorality, personal entitlement, and utter insanity (AL FRANKEN???? SENATOR???? I WAS BORN IN MINNESOTA AND I AM ASHAMED TO SAY IT!), Texas, with our big toiling pump jacks and fiesty longhorns seems to be one of the few places in which the dream of America's founders is still alive and well.

To the point, right. Anyway, I now have another thing about Texas to love: Republican Congressmen John Carter. Give this man a kiss for me. Here's the article:

"Rep. Carter introduced a bill Wednesday to eliminate all IRS penalties and interest for paying taxes past due. The legislation calls for the creation of what he calls the, "Rangel Rule," -- drawing attention to the recent legal issues of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., enabling citizens who fail to pay taxes on time to do so later with no additional fees. Rangel, who writes the country's tax policies, acknowledged last fall that he failed to pay thousands in real estate taxes for rental income he earned from a property in the Dominican Republic. As of September 2008 the Harlem Democrat reportedly paid back more than $10,000 in taxes but that did not include any IRS penalties.

"Your citizens back home should have the same rights and benefits that come to you as a member of congress. You shouldn't be treated any differently under the law than your citizens back home," Carter said. (AMEN!)

He added that citizens should receive the "same courtesy" that the IRS is allegedly granting Rangel and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, who also recently acknowledged a failure to pay taxes. Carter penned a letter to Rangel earlier this month requesting that he either pay the IRS fees or join him in co-sponsoring the legislation establishing the rule.

"As Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, I believe you set an example for all American taxpayers in your dealings with the IRS, and that you must do so in a way that enforces blind justice without regard to wealth or status," he wrote in the January 6th missive.

A spokesman for the New York Democrat would not comment on the state of the tax issue, which is currently under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, but did respond to the Carter bill.

The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) notes that question 59 – part of a 63-item questionnaire given to Obama administration job applicants – asks for information about firearms owned by the applicant and his or her family. Found in the questionnaire’s “Miscellaneous” section, question 59 reads, “Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.”

Although it’s not clear that gun ownership would disqualify a job applicant, ISRA says question 59 shows the Obama team’s “distaste” for firearm owners.

"Question 59 provides clear insight into how Obama and his people perceive firearm owners," said ISRA Executive Director Richard Pearson. “The questionnaire poses a number of questions asking the applicant to reveal any unethical activities, or embarrassing Internet chats, then wraps up by asking if anyone in the applicant's family owns a firearm. Obviously, Obama feels that owning a firearm is akin to talking dirty in Internet chat rooms.” Pearson says the attitude is not surprising, given that Obama – as an Illinois State senator -- voted for SB1195, which included a provision calling for gun owners to be registered in the same manner as sex offenders. "Once again, we have to ask ourselves just what candidate Obama was talking about when he said he has 'respect' for the 2nd Amendment," said Pearson.

University of Michigan's 'Nanobama' Hopes to Popularize Nanotechnology Research

I fear a voter who votes based on skin color or gender.
I fear a voter who votes based on eloquent speeches.
I fear a voter who thinks their candidate is sexier than his opponent.
I fear a voter who does no research and asks no questions.

With voters like these, I fear what America could become. This is just the first step of ignorance down a path that could lead the the downfall of America. The more people need the government to take care of them, the more dependent they are on that government and the easier they are to control. It's been seen many many times throughout history and each time with disastrous consequences. If you doubt me, read a little bit about Germany in the 30s and keep this in mind, Adolf Hitler was elected.

The preacher who influenced Barack's life was Jeremiah Wright.

Jeremiah Wright is not named John, nor is he a Baptist.

5) Miracles

Raising the Dead

Jesus could raise people from the dead.

Obama could not.

Otherwise, all those dead people Acorn registered would have voted.

Feeding the Multitudes

Jesus fed thousands with only a few fish and loaves of bread.

Obama cannot magically multiply bread or fish, otherwise he would have fed all his supporters with delicious bass.

They hung on every single word, every single action, criticizing his every decision. And I say, it's time to turn the tables. It's time to get nasty. Whenever you hear an Obama voter complain about anything, taxes, gas prices, whatever, you call them on it. Periodically ask them when Obama's miraculous "Change" and "Hope" are going to happen. Yet, I'm not begrudging us this good life; our forefathers fought and died, toiled and sacrificed to make this country the great country that it is. With the help of divine providence. Our founders crafted our system of government so that each future generation could build upon this foundation, always with the good of the people in mind. But I guess that's the problem now... the people. I beg people to consider these stages as they call for the government to fix all of their problems - debt, healthcare, etc. etc. At all times, we are just step away from bondage.

The Parable of the Ant and the Grasshopper
(in today's society)

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, “It’s Not Easy Being Green.” Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.” Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake. Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper , and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer! The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around him because he doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow. The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over bya gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008.

Your Tax Dollars At Work...

I just saw an ad saying "Obama, McCain, What are you going to do about world poverty and child welfare? What are you going to do about the global AIDS epidemic?" I am so sick of the US government giving international handouts. If bleeding hearts want to spend every penny they earn on buying condoms for people in 3rd world countries, that's wonderful. But it sure isnt up to the United States government to spend taxpayers money on charity outside of this country. A recent study stated that American citizens are the most generous people in any country in the world. I encourage people to donate time and money to charitable causes that they believe in, both in the United States and other nations. But I loathe the idea of the government taking my hard-earned money and spending it on providing population control (abortion aid) in Mexico City.

The government is getting too damn spendy with our money and it's got to stop! If the IRS wants to add another page to my tax forms asking me if I want to donate $1 of my refund to a laundry list of charities, that's fine. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit around letting the liberals spend my tax dollars on Mexican "population control"!!!

This reform was defeated by the Democratically controlled Congress. Speaking about this reform in 2006, McCain stated "to underscore my support for quick passage of this, if Congress does not act American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, and the overall financial system and the economy as a whole."

At whose feet should the blame lie?

In 1995, Bill Clinton instructed then Secretary of Treasury Robert Ruben to rewrite the rules governing the Community Reinvestment Act (a Carter-era law) to pressure financial institutions to extend loans to riskier borrowers in a generous but short-sighted attempt to curry favor with the liberal base.

This mess started with big government sticking it's nose into the free market. Barack Obama complains of federal spending "soaring out of control", yet he and his party are trying to cram a $700 Billion pill down our throats? Ridiculous. Today, the truly Conservative Republicans in Congress fought to modify this motion from a Bailout to a reasonable plan in which these rescued companies pay the America people back - with interest.

Sounds like the best plan to me. Sounds like we do have some politicians looking out for us after all. And looks like none of them is Barack Obama.

Here's what scorches my cookies - Left-wingers, apparently Charlie Gibson among them, desperately try to paint Christians as equatable to our radical islamist enemies. They think Christians are crazy for believing in things like Creation (listen to Matt Damon's tirade about the age of the dinosaurs). They have the most difficult time believing that God could possibly be on our side. Wasn't God on our side when the North won the Civil War and slavery was ended? Wasn't God on our side (and the side of all members of the Allied Forces) during WWII when we stopped the evil of Nazism? Wasn't God on our side as we brought about the end of the Cold War and halted the spread of Communism, an ideology that has killed more people than the Nazis? Isn't God on our side now as we depose murderous dictator Saddam Hussein, give the Iraqi people rights and control of their own nation, fight the evils of terrorism all across the globe to make the world a safer place? What is the presence of God if not a driving force of everlasting Good that inspires mankind to act?

Liberals will interpret Sarah's words as more crazy talk from Christians hell-bent on conquering the world and spreading their religion. In Charlie's words, "starting holy wars". (Sounds like our enemies, right?)

Conservatives know that when we pray for God to be on our side, we are praying for God to lead us down the right path, to support us in doing what is right, in doing his will. We believe, as our forefathers believed, that God had a hand in the creation of this great nation and we have a responsibility to God to always do what is right and just.

I get so irritated each time I hear someone talk about Sarah Palin's little boy and how devastating it must have been for her family. I know that having a child with special needs can be a huge challenge, one that families do not often anticipate. I get that. What I dont get is the societal opinion that a child with Down's Syndrome, or Autism, or Cerebral Palsy is anything less than perfect. On Friday, I actually heard a talk show host who I admire tell a caller whose child is Down's that he was "sorry". Sorry for what? Sorry that her child didnt turn out "perfect?" Do we live in Nazi Germany? No one is perfect. NO ONE. God made us for a reason. All of us. He gives all of us challenges - some more difficult than others. We all have a purpose. Even the tiniest little mustard seed has a purpose on this earth. Whether it sprouts up for a single solitary day or blossoms for centuries.

I have family members with special needs (one of whom has Down's Syndrome) and I can tell you - they are much more decent than you or I.

If you are a Christian, you know that true perfection is measured by your closeness to God. These children are the closest you can get to perfection.

When Hillary Clinton was vying for the Democratic Nomination, did anyone ever question her relationship with Chelsea? Has anyone ever implied that Nancy Pelosi is abandoning her 5 children by serving as the Speaker of the House? So why do I keep hearing, over and over, criticism of Sarah Palin's relationship with her children? Of comments being made that it isn't appropriate for a mother of 5 children, including an infant with Down's Syndrome, to be running for this office?

Washington Post writer Sally Quinn said "Not only do we have a woman with five children, including an infant with special needs, but a woman whose 17-year-old child will need her even more in the coming months. Not to mention the grandchild. This would inevitably be an enormous distraction for a new vice president (or president) in a time of global turmoil. Not only in terms of her job, but from a media standpoint as well."

So all those years of girls being told that we can have a happy family AND a successful career were lies? So the male sex is the only gender capable of simultaneously managing their family's needs and the requirements of their business? Is Sarah Palin not smart enough or strong enough to do the job as well as any man?

Or is the question whether a conservative woman is capable of doing the job? Apparently women's rights only apply to bra-burning, pro-abortion democrats, not for all American women. I pray that Sarah Palin kicks some serious ass.

Hahahaha. If he was really so talented at running a campaign, he'd know that sometimes it's just best to take the high road. Or just not to speak at all. Being that he said "Governor Palin", surely he realizes that she isn't "Governor" of the town of Wasilla. As current Governor of the largest state in the union, with 15,000 employees under her and a 2008 budget of $11 billion, Palin is in charge of some of the most valuable land in the United States. Because of it's location, the state of Alaska likely deals with international matters more than any other state - having to contend with Russia, Canada, and even the indigenous peoples of Alaska. As an Alaskan, she's knowledgeable about the untapped resources within her state, not only the vast oil reserves but the clean-burning natural gas that can provide us with a bridge into an era of renewable energy sources. In addition, as Governor, Sarah Palin is commander-in-chief of the state's National Guard.

Obama is like a talking donkey, every once in a while, he says something that makes sense. But most of the time, he just makes an ass of himself.

How in the hell is Barack Obama going to get a Top Secret Security Clearance with his association with William Ayers?

Security clearances are super-stringent. Top Secret Clearances are even more so. In your clearance investigation, they dig into EVERYTHING. A friendship with someone who has repeatedly and unapologetically bombed government buildings and targeted law enforcement officers would be a huge red flag and, I assume, would earn an instant rejection.

Let's say that you are desperate for a babysitter. Your neighbor has a 20 year old daughter. She's always seemed like a nice kid but you know for a fact that some of her closest friends are bad apples. One of them has committed some violent acts and pledged to wreak anarchy on society and the other is a racist who believes the government invented H.I.V. as a tool of genocide. Now as nice as the neighbor girl seemed to you, wouldn't you be wary of her being around your child? Wouldn't you, simply because of her associations, assume that this girl had a few screws loose?

Here are Barack Obama's loose screws:

1) William Ayers, Founder of the 60s terrorist group "The Weather Underground" - In the 60s and 70s, American radical William Ayers founded "The Weathermen" and "The Weather Underground" to protest "American Imperialism".

"The group’s members assumed clandestine identities and began detonating bombs at courthouses, correctional facilities, police stations, the Capitol and the Pentagon. Between October 1969 and September 1973, the Weather Underground claimed credit for some twenty bombings across the country." (FoxNews, August 26, 2008) This homegrown terrorist and his wife escaped federal terrorism charges on a technicality - improper surveillance techniques by investigators. (Chicago Sun-Times, April 16, 2008) Many years later, Ayers is a professor at the University of Illinois and still unrepentant. In a 2004 interview, "Ayers claimed the Weathermen were driven by “hope and love,” not despair, and said he did not think the group’s violent acts, targeting federal officials and local law enforcement officers, were 'a big deal.' ".

Barack Obama has been friends with William Ayers for over 13 years. Ayers launched Obama's political career in Illinois by hosting one of Obama's first campaign events at his Hyde Park home in 1995.

As passionate and even crazed as William Ayers is, do you think that he would support (and host events to launch) the political career of someone who didn't share at least some of his radical beliefs?

2) Reverend Jeremiah Wright - former pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago: An inflammatory speaker, Rev. Wright has stated that "the government gives [black people] drugs and "treats them as less than human." (ABC News, March 13, 2008)

"We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye," Rev. Wright said in a sermon on Sept. 16, 2001. "We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and black South Africans, and now we are indignant because the stuff we have done overseas is now brought right back to our own front yards. America's chickens are coming home to roost," he told his congregation 5 days after September 11th. (ABC News, March 13, 2008) Wright has also claimed that US scientists engineered the AIDS virus.

"An ABC News review of dozens of Rev. Wright's sermons, offered for sale by the church, found repeated denunciations of the U.S. based on what he described as his reading of the Gospels and the treatment of black Americans." (ABC News, March 13, 2008)

Rev. Jeremiah Wright has been Barack Obama's pastor for over 17 years. Not only did Wright marry Barack and Michelle, he also baptized both of Obama's daughters and is even credited for coining the title of Barack's autobiography, "The Audacity of Hope."

"In a statement to ABCNews.com, Obama's press spokesman Bill Burton said, 'Sen. Obama has said repeatedly that personal attacks such as this [one on Rev. Wright] have no place in this campaign or our politics, whether they're offered from a platform at a rally or the pulpit of a church. Sen. Obama does not think of the pastor of his church in political terms. Like a member of his family, there are things he says with which Sen. Obama deeply disagrees. But now that he is retired, that doesn't detract from Sen. Obama's affection for Rev. Wright or his appreciation for the good works he has done.' " (ABC News, March 13, 2008)

Clearly Barack agrees with what Wright has to say, he's stuck with him for over 17 years! The Obamas are so close to Wright that he married them and baptized both their children - if you think your pastor is off his wad, you don't ask him to participate in every facet of your religious life - or name your book after one of his sermons.

1,215 Servicemembers Re-enlist in Iraq

All 1,215 servicemembers celebrated by raising their right hands and pledging to continue defending the "land of the free" in what is the largest reenlistment ceremony since the all-volunteer force began in 1973 according to Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin L. Hill, command sergeant major, Multi-National Forces - Iraq."

I want to stress a couple of things here.

First of all, I want to remind America that our military is an all-volunteer military. That all of these servicemen and women first joined the Air Force, the Marine Corps, the Army, and the Navy by their own volition, seeking to serve and protect their country and to make a difference in the world. And, by their own choice, are re-enlisting in huge numbers to keep up the fight.

Secondly, I want to point out that if the Iraq war is such a "mistake" then why are these servicemen and women re-joining the mission over there? The answer is that they understand something that Barack Obama and Harry Reid and Jack Murtha don't. They see first-hand the fragility of a newly-founded democracy - not entirely unlike ours 232 years ago. They see the desire of the Iraqi people to live in peace - not under the thumb of a crazed dictator or Al Queda. They see that there is a job to be done. A job that men and women have died for - and they must stay the course until that job is complete. It may take many more years - much more time away from their families and friends, much more time in the killer heat and the danger - to get this new nation on its feet. They know that they are creating peace and bringing hope...and are making a bit of history in the process.

While reading about the 4th of July festivities in my neck of the woods, I was irritated to read that the Sachse 4th of July parade had a theme - and it wasnt the 4th of July. This year apparently, it's "Stars". Parade entrants are asked to "interpret the theme any way you want," the article says "You can be a movie star or even a celestial being!" Doesn't the 4th of July already have a theme? People should be dressing up as Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross, not Miley Cyrus or Betelgeus. I guess it's not surprising that our kids know more about Brangelina than about their nations history.

Oil - Liberals hate oil. A simple mention of the word evokes nightmares of crude-covered ducks gagging. They wake up in the night drenched with sweat screaming "Exxon Valdez - NOOOOOOOOO!" They hate oil so much, in fact, that they don't mind bankrupting half of America by fighting against drilling. Their hatred for oil makes them blind to news that our off-shore oil rigs have become artificial reefs supporting thriving sea life, even through the ravages of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, during which these oil rigs held up nicely without so much as one dead dolphin.

Guns - "Guns kill people," Liberals scream. They march. They do commercials with Susan Sarandon. Apparently in California, guns mysteriously load themselves, rise into the air, aim at people and kill them.

Companies - Oil companies, drug companies, health insurance companies, SUV manufacturers, the list goes on and on. I guess it's easier to hate a company than to hate an actual person. But the funny thing is, companies are made up of people. Oh, and companies make profits and Liberals think that's outrageous. How dare a company make a profit when they should be developing products that benefit humanity and are provided free of charge. It's not like this is a capitalist society or anything.

Before women were granted the vote in 1920, do you suppose that all the suffragettes, dreaming of equal rights, turned to their daughters and said "One day, my little girl, all the women of this country will have the right to vote and they will use that vote to pick the hottest candidate with the most ripped abs." Nobody seems to have them anymore. There once was a time when everywhere you looked, someone was swinging a sack around - George S. Patton (BALLS!), John Wayne (BALLS!), Ronald Reagan (BALLS! BALLS! BALLS!). Now every time I turn around I hear about another guy getting a pedicure! This country is turning into a big nation of pansies and I'm damn sick of it. Now, instead of killing our enemies, we give them rights under the constitution and let them read their Korans and grow fat off of Doritos in cells on a beautiful tropical island. Instead of shaking them up for information, we splash some water on their faces and ask nicely while the eunuchs on Capitol Hill run around shouting "Torture! Torture!" in effeminate voices. Instead of starting up some big manly drilling machines on some big manly oil rigs, our men would rather prance around in a meadow wearing daisy chains and dreaming of a future in which we all fly colorful hot air balloons to work.

Lady Liberty might be a gal but she's had some huge balls in the past and I'm sure they're still somewhere under that green robe. How about we polish them off and start putting them to good use?

1) First things first. Let's stop apologizing and being ashamed for being the #1 World Superpower. We earned that distinction through courage and might, ingenuity and good old fashioned HARD WORK. We were under the thumb of oppressors once too and you know what we did? We kicked their asses right out of this country and built a nation that is the envy of the world. We have a right to be proud.

2) Let's capture, interrogate and promptly kill terrorist prisoners. Or just promptly kill them. Let's not fool ourselves, ladies and gentleman, if any of these guys took one of us prisoner, they'd have our heads promptly sawed-off on video. Two words for you - Nicholas Berg.

3) Let's admit that sometimes war is the only option. - World peace would be wonderful. It would be incredible to live in a world in which we all respect each other's right to live and worship as we choose. But unfortunately the world isn't a utopia and it never will be. As long as there are evil people in the world who want to kill innocent people and roast them alive in an office building, there has to be good, strong, true heroes who stand up and fight. It's happened time and again throughout history and the world is a better place because of it. Doubt me? War halted slavery, Nazism, Communism, and now it's stopping terrorism. Thank God for the men and women who have stood to fight for us. Our troops have BALLS!

4) This one's for the ladies. Girls, let's let our men be men. In fact, let's encourage them to be men. It's fine to take them salsa dancing once in a while but let's not get carried away. Guys, use a chainsaw every now and then. Spank your kids, don't put them in time out. Have a beer and chicken wings and leave the white wine and brie to the ladies. Change your own oil. Fire a gun.

If you need some help, rent some Tom Selleck or Russell Crowe DVDs or the movie 300. Just please America, reclaim your balls!!!!

Ever hear the adage "Pay attention to history or you'll be doomed to repeat it?" Well, the people of the world need to go back to history class for a big dose of book-learnin'. We're repeating the stupid mistakes of history as we speak. For example, take a look at two of the current campaign promises being tossed out in this 2008 Presidential Race:

Well, why didn't someone think of this earlier? Apparently, world peace is as simple as buying your enemy a non-fat toffee nut latte. Let's not drop bombs on terrorists, let's just drop bags of 100% Arabica beans and invite ourselves into their spiderholes for a nice heart-to-heart. If only it were as easy as starting up a dialogue with these people. They say Barack lacks experience but, yeesh, even my chihuahua knows that you cant negotiate with crazy people. Ahmadinejad is a mouthpiece for terrorism, plain and simple. He's an evil, evil man and if you aren't sure about that, just google the guy and read about some of the things he says and does. He puts homosexuals to death simply for their orientations. He says the Holocaust never happened. He calls for the complete annihilation of Israel - that's calling for the deaths of 7,282,000 men, women and children. Weapons that he has provided to insurgents are being employed to kill our soldiers in Iraq as I write this. An agreement or promise made by this man is worthless.

History Lesson

British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain tried for 3 years to appease Adolf Hitler. When Hitler broke the Munich Agreement in 1939, Chamberlain realized that the promises of a madman are worth nothing. Meanwhile, about 4 million Jews had already been murdered. It took a couple of years and some serious firepower to stop Hitler, not a couple of
meetings at the local Der Kaffe Haus.

Love Spending Time at the DMV? Try Universal Health Care!

Everyone knows that the government is very efficient and all government employees are quite friendly and happy. Just take a trip to your nearest post office. Why, it's a utopia. It's so clean, there are no lines, the employees are delightful, it's very very efficient and the prices are reasonable. Oh wait. Seriously people -do you want to turn your doctors office into the post office? Or worse, the DMV?

And then there's the whole issue of PAYING for everyone's "free" health care. That cost is monumental. I feel as bad as the next guy about kids that have no insurance but I certainly don't feel that it's my responsibility to pay for it. If you cant afford to insure your kids - don't have any! Not only that, but I suspect that there are quite a few Americans whose uninsured kids eat dinner in front of a 50 inch plasma tv.

History Lesson

Canada is just one of many countries with failing socialized medical programs. People in dire need of treatments and surgeries are waiting MONTHS for care. There are a growing number of instances in which patients are dying waiting for routine surgeries such as appendectomies. Some simple economics here - when the price of a good or service (prescriptions and medical care) drops to zero, the demand increases far beyond the supply. The Canadian health system has become unable to provide medication and services to all those seeking them. Canadians are actually coming to the United States to purchase medications that they cannot receive in Canada.

Oh, and Canada's free health care is turning out to be pretty un-free. A Canadian individual pays approx. $1,100 a year in taxes JUST for the government health care. That does not include other taxes. And note that that total is for an individual, so a family of four pays taxes in excess of $4,500! Just for the "free" health care!

Health care aside, history has taught us that the more power a nation gives to it's government, the less power belongs to the people and the more bloated and corrupt that government becomes. (Absolute power corrupts absolutely - Do the words Paris Hilton come to mind?) And governments aren't prone to just relinquishing control of things and giving them back to the people. Even the government of the greatest nation on earth.
